Curbing Plastic Bag Usage

Goal: Save 1,000 plastic bags by the end of 2020.

Behind this Challenge

Every single day, millions of plastic bags are used and disposed of across the globe. And though plastic bags seem deceivingly harmless, they are actually just the opposite. Plastic bags pollute fragile marine ecosystems, endanger the lives of innocent civilians due to microplastic in the air, and take years to biodegrade. However, every single person has the ability to contribute to stopping the amount of plastic bags they use. And because of this, plastic bag wastage is extremely preventable.

Challenge

To reach our collective goal of saving 1,000 plastic bags by this December, we need the help of each and every one of our dedicated members. What we have to do to meet this goal is very simple: limit our own plastic bag consumption (by using reusable bags), and convince others to invest in reusable bags themselves. When you do this, comment on the forum the date you started contributing to this challenge and how many people (including yourself) have made the switch from disposable to reusable!
